April 2019 Update ...

We have met with the LA Advisor and discussed plans for September 2019 and are currently waiting on their decision, hopefully this will be soon and will allow us to accept pre-school pupils without an EHCP but in need of a specialist Nursery placement. The aim remains to offer this provision from September 2019, pending LA approval.

Currently, we are able to admit pre-school aged children with an EHCP and are now ready to take requests for placements for September 2019. Please contact the school office to register your interest and work with your LA SENDO to arrange visits.

We are delighted to share with parents, carers, friends and colleagues our intention to provide a specialist nursery at Royal Cross School for deaf/HI children from September 2019.

Our aim is to provide families and children with specialist early intervention by Qualified Teachers of the Deaf alongside specialist support staff, including ELKLAN trained TA3’s and a BSL trained assessor.

This will guarantee that deaf/HI children get the very best start to their communication and language development, vital when accessing the curriculum and achieving the very best outcomes.

We will consider assessment places for those children who may need additional support to enter a mainstream provision and our staff will support transition into these settings and any follow up outreach.

We are at the early stages of setting up the provision and will be working closely with the Governing Body, SEND Services and the Local Authority to ensure that our provision is the very best that we can offer and that all statutory procedures and policies are in place.

If you would like to find out more or register interest in a place for a child from September 2019 please get in touch with school on 01772 729705, email or fill in the application form to register your interest.
