PUPILS WORKING AT HOME
This is the area of the web site dedicated to supporting pupils and families working at home.
Please also check your child's CLASS PAGES for further links and activities.
We will be uploading timetables and information for both busy parents and carers and information to help you manage the next few weeks in supporting learning from home.
Introduction:
Schools have been instructed to inform families that the safest place to be for all children if possible is at home to limit the spread of the virus. At Royal Cross we want to ensure that all our pupils who have an EHCP are supported as much as possible while families are practising social distancing at home.
The following guidance will help families to know how to access help and what help is available. This is a new way of working for all of us but together we can make this work!
Communicating with school:
If you need to contact school please use any of the following:
Class Dojo – for individual pupil family contact, concerns or to share / ask questions of individual teachers
Text contact – deaf families
bursar@royalcross.lancs.sch.uk
headteacher@royalcross.lancs.sch.uk
Phone calls for families without internet access
When we need to communicate with you:
School Dojo – for information for all families, including updates & newsletters by Headteacher
School web Site – for information on Blog and individual class pages for links to work, online activities and topic information – PUPIL page, ‘Pupils working at home’.
Parent Text Services – for individual families and for general updates etc.

‘Contact hours’ – times when it is ok to contact class teachers for help and advice:
Class teachers are available through Class Dojo within the following time slots:
09:15 – 12:00
13:15 – 15:00
Parents can contact staff during those time slots for advice on:
Setting up online access to sites
Questions about work set
Requests for additional printed work /online resources
Any feedback
Online Safety
Many pupils will be regularly using the internet to access work and follow links recommended by school.
We would like to ask all families and pupils to be mindful at all times about the potential dangers with unsupervised access to the World Wide Web.
Please use the guidance on the ONLINE SAFETY page of the web site.
Pupils with EHCP’s – all pupils at Royal Cross
Some of our pupils may find the transition from going to school to working from home difficult.
Royal Cross School will continue to support ALL our families individually, providing regular information and updates to make this transition as easy as possible. We have made sure that our suggested timetables for families includes relaxation and opportunities for breaks. The important thing at this time is to give our children time and opportunity to talk / sign about the current situation.
Communicating with the DSL and reporting safeguarding concerns
If at any time you feel that you may need additional support or are struggling to cope with the pressures of caring for children in the current climate – PLEASE contact school immediately.
If you need to contact school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead:
